TETRAETHYL PYROPHOSPHITE - Upstream Downstream Industry
TETRAETHYL PYROPHOSPHITE - Introduction
TETRAETHYL PYROPHOSPHITE is an organic phosphorus compound with the chemical formula (C2H5O)4P2O4.
Nature:
TETRAETHYL PYROPHOSPHITE is a colorless to yellowish liquid with a pungent odor. It is soluble in a variety of organic solvents, such as alcohols and ethers. It has a melting point of -60°C and a boiling point of 200°C.
Use:
TETRAETHYL PYROPHOSPHITE is mainly used as catalyst, elimination agent and intermediate in organic synthesis reaction. It can be used for the preparation of phosphate ester compounds, organic phosphoric acid anhydrides and organic phosphoric acid amides, etc.
Method:
TETRAETHYL PYROPHOSPHITE can be obtained by the reaction of triethyl phosphate and phosphate triester under alkaline catalysis. The specific steps are mixing triethyl phosphate and triphosphate in a molar ratio of 1:2, adding an alkaline catalyst and heating for reaction, and finally purifying by distillation to obtain a product.
Safety Information:
TETRAETHYL PYROPHOSPHITE is a strong oxidant and should avoid contact with flammable materials. Necessary protective measures shall be taken during handling and storage, and appropriate protective gloves, glasses and protective masks shall be worn. Avoid inhaling its vapors or solutions and avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing. Any contact should be immediately flushed with plenty of water and seek medical help.
